PLANETS & LUMINARIES

Planets describe the functions of a chart.

In astrology, planets and luminaries represent different drives: identity, emotion, language, desire, discipline, expansion, and transformation. Their sign and house show how and where those functions operate.

Sun

Vitality, identity, creative purpose, and the feeling of becoming more fully yourself.

Moon

Instinct, emotional rhythm, comfort, memory, and the conditions that help you settle.

Mercury

Thinking, language, learning, attention, and the way information moves.

Venus

Attraction, values, pleasure, aesthetics, reciprocity, and relationship style.

Mars

Desire, drive, boundaries, anger, initiative, and how you pursue what matters.

Jupiter

Meaning, growth, confidence, teaching, faith, and the appetite for experience.

Saturn

Limits, responsibility, patience, mastery, and the structures that make progress durable.

Uranus

Change, disruption, invention, independence, and the need to update a pattern.

Neptune

Imagination, ideals, compassion, permeability, and the difference between longing and clarity.

How to read a planet in a chart

A planet alone is not a complete reading. Start with three questions: Which planet? tells you the function. Which sign? tells you the style. Which house? tells you the life area. Aspects add a fourth layer by describing how that function interacts with others.
